Welcome to Heron Class! 

Welcome to Year 2!

We are a class of 25 and our teachers are Miss Wools and Mrs Blannin.

In Year 2, we are busy learners who love to explore new ideas and ask lots of questions! This year, we’ll be learning all about exciting topics in History and Geography, discovering amazing people, places and events that have shaped our world.

In History, we’ll find out about inspiring people like Mary Seacole, Florence Nightingale, and Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and explore how seafaring has changed over time.

In Geography, we’ll learn about different places and climates around the world — from the North and South Poles to hot countries and Jamaica — comparing how people live in different environments.

We’ll also be immersing ourselves in lots of great books that inspire our English lessons and help us become confident readers and writers.

In Maths, we’ll be developing our understanding of number, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We’ll also explore fractions, shape, measurement and time, using practical activities to help us solve real-life problems.

We are a class that likes to be outside so we’ll take our learning out of the classroom as much as we can using our lovely forest areas and local areas such as Folly Farm as well as other exciting trips and experiences.
