Welcome to Cygnet Class!
We are a kind and caring class of twenty-seven year one children. Our class teacher is Mrs Jeffery but on a Tuesday afternoon Miss Benson teaches us.
In Cygnets, we have an inviting and purposeful classroom environment, including a role playhouse, reading area and we are lucky enough to have an outdoor learning area just outside our classroom which we love using.
In mathematics we like to learn through practical activities to ensure that we gain a deep understanding, before moving onto pictorial and abstract concepts. Our maths resources station is always open for us to access.
In English we are going to look at a range of books this year, including ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ as our first whole class text. We will be writing in a range of different outcomes such as, letter writing, non-chronological reports, description writing to name a few! When we write stories, we have a whole class story map where we recite the story and come up with actions to help us remember.
One day each term we go to Folly Farm and learn so many things about the seasons, plants and animals to support our science curriculum.
